Oracle 11g, Account Password Expired
In the version of Oracle 11g, as the default user profile, leave enabled (for security reasons), the password expires.
It often happens that we forgot to set this policy and we come across the term of its password,
that is problematic, especially if it relates to utilities application (set in the codes of the programs).
To overcome this we can change the default setting with the following command:
ALTER PROFILE DEFAULT LIMIT PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME UNLIMITED;
If you can create a new profile we use this command for setting password life time unlimited:
CREATE PROFILE <new_profile> PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME UNLIMITED;
Then we associate it to the users with this command:
ALTER USER <existing_user> PROFILE “<new_profile>” IDENTIFIED BY <new complex password>;
Clearly in the user profile you can set additional options on security policies, such as the
maximum number of attempts, the maximum number of password reuse, etc. ..
